Hello! So this is my first “new category” post! I’ll make travel/destination place category!
So, as it’s written, it’s about my travelling story.
I have one blog before, just for this category, but I deleted it because I didn’t think I want to go travel / going places ever again. But, I was wrong. I still want to, and not only travel to other countries, but also other places (like museum, tourist destination, and else). And I thought it will be a great idea to write it here also. I really want to include it in Journal category but….. It’s very interesting if I make one other category. LOL.
SO. HERE IT IS.
MUSEUM MACAN was my first destination after five years i’d never going places. Trust me. I only went to mall for refreshing and never to exciting places.
MUSEUM MACAN is the newest museum in my city, Jakarta-Indonesia. It’s a Museum of modern and contemporary art. They had exhibition schedule besides their own collection. I went there when Xu Bing exhibition was held.
“Interesting” and “clean” are my two first comments.
Museum Macan took place at AKR tower level M, meaning, it took place at an office building, not like any other Museum in Jakarta, usually took place at big empty building (sometimes an old building), but this museum took place at some office building. We should access (two times) escalator to came to the museum itself.
At the first floor (of the museum), there were all exhibitions took places, bag storages, museum’s shop, and a café.
At the second floor (of the museum), was their gallery.
XU BING EXHIBITION
BOOK FROM THE SKY (1987-1991)

HONOR and SPLENDOR (2004)

It looked like a giant rug, but it made from cigarettes.

SQUARE WORD CALLIGRAPHY (1994-2019)

Xu bing tried to make sign with this theory.
BACKGROUND STORY (2004-2009)

It is a work of shadow play, creates an illusion and shows how the trick is done, whilst pointing to issues of environmental concerns and cultural aesthetics.
It made from trashes and everything you could find in environment (such as dried leaves, branches, and else).
DRAGONFLY EYES (2017)
It’s a short movies about lot’s of video showed together. All videos taken from cctv. That was the reason it named dragonfly eyes. It can catches lots of things from its eyes. We can watch everything at once.
A CASE STUDY FROM TRANSFERENCE (1994)
It’s a video.
Xu bing tried to make a sarcasm about two cultures with animals. Two pigs were written nonsense (no meaning) on their skin, first pig had Chinese character, second pig had English word. People in gallery watching them. They got into sex (meaning they had mixed their character/language/everything they represent), and Xu bing said something like “they who said they were cultured, shame for something natural. They who don’t understand, just do it naturally”.
Xu bing want to say that “it’s important to make something more simplier, so everyone could understand. It’s okay for something like mixed cultured and else because it created communication.”
Well, something like that as I remembered. LOL.
XU BING actually is someone who created signs (such as emoticon and else). He created and explained the reason we could communicate without words. There’re some other his works but i couldn’t remember their names.

HUTAN KARET / RUBBERSCAPE
A Malaysian artist, Shoosie Sulaiman, made full size Diorama of his childhood’s play landscape.

GALLERY of MUSEUM MACAN
I love it, but it need mooooooooorrrreeeeeeeeee. I liked to see more collections from them.
I personally attracted to Asian’s artist such as Lee Ufan, Kim Tschangyeul, Zao Wou-ki, Kim Jiyeon, and they had Lee Ufan and Zao Wou-ki. Well, I’m impressed.

Xu Bing exhibition is still there until January 2019.
And i wish they add their gallery collections because all were amazing. I couldn’t wait for more collection.
So, if you curious, you could go there and enjoy it.
Prepared 100.000 rupiah for a person to get in. Will i go there again? perhaps, after they add their gallery collections.
WELL… THIS IS MY FIRST TRAVEL/DESTINATION STORY. Can’t wait to write more!
See you!
